Selfridge ANG Base Day Camp
by Joe Van Poucker
On June 22, the WAS gave a solar observing presentation to
approximately 150 scouts and parents at the Selfridge Air National Guard
base. They were having a day camp
there and asked us to come out. Steve Green, Rick Gossett, Blaine Mccullough, and
Joe VanPoucker set up 4 telescopes on the shoreline of Lake St. Clair. In between
passing clouds
and fighter aircraft overhead, the scouts and parents had the opportunity
to observe sunspot groups. Most of the families were tired and went home
before it even got dark so we did not get to show them any other objects.
Be sure to see the
pictures from this event.
